Starbright Licensing announces a new agreement with TF1 Licensing for the management of the Italian licensing rights to Barbapapa, one of the longest-running and best-loved family properties worldwide.
For over 50 years, the brand has combined creativity, inclusion and respect for the environment, engaging generations of fans. In Italy, Barbapapa has a particularly strong connection with audiences: the first animated series aired on Rai in 1976, while the latest series, Barbapapa – A Big Happy Family, has brought the family and the Barbababies back to screens.
In recent years, Barbapapa has entered a new phase of international growth, with collaborations across fashion, design and the cultural sector. Through this new agreement, Starbright Licensing will develop a dedicated licensing programme for the Italian market, building on the property’s strong intergenerational appeal.
“Barbapapa is a property that speaks to different generations through timeless values such as inclusion, creativity and respect for the environment. We are delighted to work with TF1 Licensing to build a structured licensing programme for Italy and fully unlock the potential of a brand that Italian audiences have loved since 1976,” says Giada Paterlini, CEO of Starbright Licensing.
Céline Georges, Licensing Marketing Director, comments: “For over 50 years, Barbapapa has been loved by families – and today also by young adults – thanks to its unique style, kindness, optimism and creativity. Italy is a key market for these characters, who have been part of family life since the 1970s. We are delighted to work with Starbright’s expertise in Italy to develop new projects and offer fans new product lines. Barbamania continues!”
